In recent years, the Palmerston and Darwin rural areas have experienced significant growth in their population that is expected to continue. In response to this growth, Territory Health Services (THS) initiated a process to identify the level and range of health services required to meet the demands created by this growth over the next ten years. As part of this process, a review of the current and future health needs of people in Palmerston and the Darwin Rural Area has been undertaken, and the services and facilities required to meet those needs, now and over the next ten years, have been identified. This report represents the final phase in the development of a Ten Year Services Plan for the provision of health services to meet the needs of the Palmerston and Darwin Rural Area population.
