Policy Type 2 Diabetes in young Aboriginal people clinical policy(NT Health, 2024-05-31)NT HealthNT Health, through its Diabetes Network, is committed to a whole-system-approach to improving prevention, early detection and management of type 2 diabetes in Aboriginal young people (youth diabetes) in the Northern Territory (NT). Evidence-based screening and management pathways for Aboriginal youth who are at risk of and/or living with diabetes, can significantly reduce the risk of serious health complications. Well-structured prevention and management of youth diabetes will significantly improve quality of life. Throughout this policy the term Aboriginal should be taken to include Torres Strait Islander people.8 2 - Publication
Strategy NT Health Inclusion Strategy - Plan of actions 2019-2022: Respecting people with diverse sexualities and gender identities(NT Health, 2019)NT HealthNT Health’s vision for the strategy: NT Health engages with sexuality and gender diverse communities we serve to promote health and wellbeing. We support a diverse and inclusive workforce who are empowered to be who they are, to deliver the best service possible. The strategy identifies 28 actions to improve NT Health Services and workplaces and become more aware, respectful and inclusive of sexuality and gender diverse people. The NT Health executive team are the champions of change to drive this strategy and an advisory group comprising members from Top End Health Service, Central Australia Health Service, Department of Health and consumers will continue to guide progress.27 14 - Publication

Plan Keeping Everyone Safe: Northern Territory Suicide Prevention Implementation Plan 2023-2028(NT Health, 2023-09-10)NT HealthThe Northern Territory Suicide Prevention Strategic Framework Implementation Plan 2023-2028 Keeping Everyone Safe, released on 10 September 2023 (World Suicide Prevention Day), sets out actions across all sectors and stakeholders in the NT and guides investment in preventing suicide for the next five years. Keeping Everyone Safe is aligned with the Northern Territory’s Joint Regional Planning, which is overseen by NT Health, NT Primary Health Network (NTPHN), National Indigenous Australians Agency (NIAA) and Aboriginal Medical Services Alliance NT (AMSANT). It builds upon and continues the work of the previous Implementation Plan (2018-2023 ).1 2 - Publication

Our plans to prevent suicide must include increasing whole of community awareness alongside targeted initiatives for people who are most at risk of suicide. Information in this progress report is organised under three priority areas: Stronger community awareness and capacity. Improved system integration, coordination and accessibility. Focused support for vulnerable groups and a stronger evidence base.9 5
