Melioidosis and the monsoon in tropical Australia

Abstract
The epidemiology of melioidosis in the Northern Territory is presented. Between 1 December 1995 and 18 January 1996, 12 cases of melioidosis were admitted to Royal Darwin Hospital. The empirical treatment protocols for adult community-acquired pneumonia and confirmed melioidosis are presented. (non-author abstract)
