Abstract
This poster highlights how midwives and their "Growing Stronger Together" coordinated care network, partner with individual families and each other to support medical, emotional, and social wellbeing. We are intentional about fostering relationships and strengthening our community of care to ensure we grow stronger, healthier babies, families, and workers.
In this poster, we share how our practices honour Aboriginal perspectives and the ethics of intercultural collaboration. Our local Darwin and Top End referral network is an integral part of a Northern Territory-wide social and emotional wellbeing network focused on learning, action, and advocacy to address common issues faced by many families.
These networks and our relational, systemic approach were originally developed to transform the Top End Midwifery Group Practice (MGP), as informed by Aboriginal people in the Northern Territory. The process was documented through a narrative case study and critical participatory action learning between 2017 and 2023.
This poster is the outcome of a six-month action learning journey with the current MGP team, the "Growing Stronger Together" coordinated care network, and the Northern Territory Maternal and Newborn Network (NTMNN) Social and Emotional Wellbeing Group, aimed at sustaining and further improving our practices. This learning process involved translating the original research findings into the present context, taking into account the strengths, aspirations, and emerging needs of current network members.
