Medical Entomology, Top End Health Service, visited Katherine on 5 and 6 March 2020 to confirm the absence of exotic mosquitoes, and to inspect selected sites for endemic mosquito breeding. The survey complements mosquito monitoring undertaken year-round by Katherine Town Council (KTC) on behalf of the Department of Health. KTC operates a number of routine mosquito traps with the aim of monitoring endemic mosquito composition and abundance, and early detection of exotic mosquito species.
