Abstract
A workshop on new dilemmas and directions for dietitians in a multicultural society was held in Darwin by the Dietitians Association of Australia in association with NT Department of Health on 11-16 ·August 1985.
The aims of the workshop were to develop:
an understanding of the principles and practices of adult education
an appreciation of the cultural differences and learning styles of Aboriginal and migrant groups.
a knowledge of programmed curriculum development in a crosscultural setting
an awareness of the most recent developnents in this field of dietetics and nutrition education in Australia
the ability to apply adult education theory to the delivery of nutrition programs in cross-cultural situations
a commitment to the ongoing evaluation and development of appropriate nutrition programs.
