Abstract
The Health Infrastructure Priority Projects (HIPP) scheme was established following a 1993/94 Federal budget commitment to investment in infrastructure which directly impacts on Aboriginal health eg. water supply; sewerage; priority housing; power supply; internal roads, drainage and dust. In 1996 the program was altered to become a state-based rather than a nationally administered scheme - new monies are now allocated under the National Aboriginal Health Strategy Environmental Health Program (NAHS EHP).
Both HIPP and NAHS EHP are funded by the Federal Government and administered through the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Commission (ATSIC).
