The management of patients needing complex treatment, such as surgery, requires co-ordination of activities and a timely flow of information. In the context of elective surgery this process extends from the time the requirement for surgery is identified to the end of post operative care. This document represents a policy position and strategy for the management of elective surgery admissions in Northern Territory public hospitals.
