Abstract
In May 1993, 25 representatives from the NT, (including Emabella), attended a 3 day conference in Hawaii on Diabetes and Native Peoples.
The purpose of the conference was to bring people from all over the world together, who had an interest in the problem of diabetes amongst native peoples. 547 people attended - many representing the Canadian and American Indian population, others representing the Native Hawaiians, some from the Pacific Islands and 31 people from Australia.
People from many professions came together - physicians, doctors, nurses, community health workers, nutritionists, diabetes educators and people with a personal interest in diabetes.
