Following the successful elimination of Aedes aegypti mosquitoes from Tennant Creek after the 2021 incursion, a genetically distinct lineage was detected in March 2026, highlighting the ongoing risk of reintroduction. This presentation reviews the original elimination program, outlines the investigation and response to the 2026 incursion, and discusses future directions for surveillance and control to prevent re-establishment of this important disease vector.
