The Banscott Consulting Team undertook a review of Maternity Services in the Northern Territory (NT) at the request of the Northern Territory Government. The report has been finalised by taking into acount the comments, opinions and advice provided by members of an Expert Reference Group (ERG) and stakeholders interviewed by the Consultants.
Maternity services within this scope encompass ante-, peri- and postnatal care, provided either by specialist or generalist health professionals. While any specific service model recommendations from this project will focus on government (NT or Australian) funded service providers, they will be relevant to assess all maternity services currently provided in the NT. Similarly the development of a service framework would also acknowledge the breadth of maternity service providers in the Territory.
