Abstract |
Good food and enough food are a vital part of people's health and life. In the Northern Territory heavy reliance on imported foods and distance from national markets affects the quality and cost of food for all Territorians. Healthy food choices are not always easy for some Territorians.
The purpose of the Government's policy is to encourage action and cooperation throughout the food and nutrition system to allow access to better food for all Territorians, particularly those who are most disadvantaged.
This policy builds on a long history of commitment by Territory Health Services' Community Nutritionists. It
recognises initiatives taken by many communities and educators to obtain better food and nutrition knowledge
throughout the Northern Territory.
