Abstract
Alcohol plays a major role in the economic and social life of Australia. While this role has numerous positive aspects, it also has a range of negative ones. A prerequisite for the development of effective policies and programs in this area is knowledge of the facts about the benefits and drawbacks of alcohol use in our
society. This research project was intended to assist in providing new information about the impact of alcohol related morbidity in the Northern Territory health care system and facilitate the development of new and appropriate services in the alcohol area.
