Abstract
The original program as determined by the Royal Australian College of Ophthalmologists was abandoned by the committee. In its place, a new program was adopted, involving first the training and then work of Aboriginal Health Workers in trachoma control, with headquarters at Katherine Institute for Aboriginal Health. All health workers now receive training in trachoma control in their basic skills course. Some selected as Aboriginal Health Worker Supervisors - Trachoma, are further trained. They then travel, teach, screen, and promote both personal and community hygiene throughout N.T. Aboriginal communities. They also report on the availability
and use/non use of ablution facilities.
