These are the proceedings of the SECOND Annual Conference of the Very, Very Very Remote Allied Health Professionals Group.They have been written in full, to provide a resource for those Very, Very, Very Remote Allied Health professionals who were unable to attend and for those who will be working in the field in the future.
This group was previously called the NT Rural Allied Health Professional Group. It was during this conference that we realised our name did not truly represent our group and our issues. Firstly, we are not limited to the N.T. Secondly, the term Rural and Remote (as used nationally) barely begins to define our work area or the issues we must deal with. We work in Remote Aboriginal Communities of Australia in areas that are geographically and culturally isolated and marginalised. Our work is highly unique, challenging and difficult. We therefore felt that we could only be defined as Very, Very, Very.Remote Allied Health Professionals.
