Phelps/Panizza are proposing to develop an area adjacent to the Blackmore River (Middle Arm, Darwin
Harbour) for the purpose of a prawn aquaculture project. The proposed Blackmore River prawn farm
development is located near the tidal reaches of Blackmore River, on the southwest margin of the proposed satellite city of Weddell. The development area is adjacent to an extensive area of mangroves, which are capable of being appreciable sources of biting midges and mosquitoes .
The Minster for Land Planning and Environment (DLP&E) has determined that the project be assessed
at the level of a Public Environment Report (PER).
