Abstract
The Health Department and the Nhulunbuy Corporation have recently reassessed the mosquito problems around Nhulunbuy and Wallaby Beach.
The Health Department Health Inspectors and the Entomology Section have been monitoring mosquito numbers around the Nhulunbuy Lagoon during the past two years and the results have shown that the majority of mosquito problems around the town area are caused by two mosquito species. One is a fresh water breeding mosquito, Culex annulirostris (the common banded mosquito), and a salt water breeding mosquito, Aedes vigilax (salt marsh mosquito).
