Abstract
The Northern Territory (NT) is a highly popular destination for recreational water activities due to its tropical climate, expansive coastlines and abundant freshwater environments. NT Health continues to support water safety initiatives across the Territory by providing regular reports to the NT Water Safety Advisory Council.1 The first fact sheet reported all water-related injuries in the NT for 2023.2 The second fact sheet, released as the 2024 annual update, also included long term trends dating from 2005.3 This fact sheet provides the annual update for 2025.
The three data sources used to capture water-related injuries include the Primary Health Care (PHC) dataset for clinical consultations in remote clinics managed by NT Health, the Emergency Department (ED) and the Hospital Admissions (HA) datasets for service activities in NT public hospitals. The PHC data from clinics run by Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations (ACCHO) are not available for this reporting.
