Abstract
The MEC program in the Northern Territory is a combined Commonwealth Government, N. T. Government
and local government program to monitor for the presence of Aedes aegyuti, the dengue fever mosquito, and to
carry out a public education and clean up campaign to reduce domestic mosquito breeding. The monitoring
segment of the program is designed to confirm the absence of Aedes aegypti in the Northern Territory,
to determine the receptivity to the introduction of this vector, and to enable evaluation of the public
education and clean up campaigns.
