Abstract
Following an internal review by the Commonwealth Department of Health and Ageing of Health Program Grants (HPG) in 1999, it was recommended that the HPG for the Northern Territory (NT) to fund District Medical Officer's (OMO) salary cease. DMOs are departmental salaried medical practitioners, providing clinical services to remote health centres. DMOs, generally, provide the services on a visiting basis.
