Abstract
A mosquito survey was carried out in Wurrumiyanga on the Tiwi Islands from 13th-15th April 2021, in
response to a fatal encephalitis case in February 2021, presumed to be Japanese encephalitis (JE). The survey
was timed in anticipation of a late wet season rise in freshwater mosquito numbers, arising from nearby
seasonally flooded areas as they begin to dry out following the cessation of monsoon rainfall.
