This manual has been prepared by Department of Health officers following the request of the Radiographers
Registration Board.
The purpose of the manual is to complement the knowledge of Radiographers Act permit holders who are required to conduct general radiographic examinations of chests and extremities. By reading and following the instructions and information contained in the manual, the permit holder should have fewer problems with patient positioning and with operation of the X-ray equipment and will be assisted in the consistent production of diagnostic quality radiographs. The background information sections of the text should answer some of the basic questions which arise concerning the equipment and its operation.
