In the year under review, we have seen the Northern Territory Department of Health take over responsibility from the Commonwealth for the provision of a wide range of health services.

In accordance with the provisions of the "Hospital Management Board's Act, 1980", on behalf of the Tennant Creek Hospital Management Board, I have the honour of submitting to you its Annual Report for year 1983.

On behalf of the Management Board of The Royal Darwin Hospital, it is my honour to present to you the 1983/84 Annual Report.

The program expanded greatly in 1983/84. A second Trachoma program Co-ordinator was appointed for the Alice Springs and Barkly Regions. Northern and Southern Co-ordinators have trained regional health workers in screening and teaching programs on all NT Aboriginal communities. As much of the screening was completed in 1982/83, a greater emphasis was placed on the training of Aboriginal health workers, rural doctors and nurses, diagnosis and treatment of trachoma. In-service courses have been held for Aboriginal Health Workers in major communities. Courses on trachoma control have been introduced into the regular orientation of doctors and nurses working in rural areas. The trachoma component in Aboriginal health workers training has been given more emphasis.

Mental Health Act annual report

This report describes the setting up of the Helen Phillipps Child Health Assessment Team, and reviews the first 12 months of its operations.

A report on the activities of the NT Trachoma Control and Eye Health Committee Inc. from 1st July 1984 to 30th June 1985.

Having recently been elected as the Chairman of the Katherine Hospital Management Board I am pleased to present a report of our activities for the year ending 1984/85. The Board is cognizant of the achievements of the past year, but appreciates the enormity of the demands which will shortly be placed on Health Services in Katherine.

This report represents .the work of all the staff in the Areas Welfare Team. Wherever possible I have attempted to the format of previous annual reports. In some cases more date data is unavailable, so that some profile parts of years report have been included unaltered in this report.

As Chairperson of the Katherine Hospital Management Board, I take pleasure in presenting the Annual Report for 1987/88.

The Medical Entomology Branch had its beginning in 1972, with the establishment of a small medical entomology unit, primarily to deal with the potential threat of malaria transmission in the Jabiru and Nhulunbuy developments. The Northern Territory was one of the first States or Territories to set up such a unit and similar units now operate in most other states.The original purpose of the Branch has been expanded to include the investigation and prevention of all insect-borne diseases, as well as to advise on aspects of other insects of medical importance.
