Fact Sheet Mortality in the Northern Territory 1981-2004This fact sheet updates selected mortality indicators for the Northern Territory by adding data from 2004 to previously published information. The analysis uses a compilation of annual Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) death datasets, and includes all deaths in Australia of NT residents, by year of death. Population estimates are based on ABS data from the 1996 and 2001 censuses.13424 570 - Publication

In this report there is a continued focus on the difference in outcomes between Indigenous and non-Indigenous Territorians. While not definitive, this report provides a comprehensive and reliable picture of the health and wellbeing of NT women. Report Northern Territory physical activity survey 2003 non-indigenous populationThis survey was undertaken by the Department of Health and Community Services (DHCS),in partnership with the National Heart Foundation (NT Division). Its primary aim was to measure levels of physical activity undertaken by residents of the Northern Territory aged between 18 and 54 years. Report Northern Territory health and wellbeing survey: non-indigenous population, December 2000(Health Gains Planning, DHCS, 2002-05) ;d'Espaignet, Edouard ;Measey, Mary-AnneDal Grande, ElenoraThe Northern Territory Health and Wellbeing Survey was conducted in December 2000 by the Department of Health and Community Services. It is the first large-scale population health survey in the Northern Territory to provide statistically robust information on the residents of metropolitan, rural and remote regions. Information on a range of health related topics was collected by telephone from 2,498 residents aged 18 years and over from metropolitan, rural and remote areas. The information provided by the respondents will assist the Department in developing and refining policies and programs aimed at improving the health of the population.1773 799 - Publication
Report Suicide in the Northern Territory 1981-2002(Health Gains Planning, DHCS, 2005-12) ;Measey, Mary-Anne; ; Innovation and ResearchThe key purpose of this report is to assess the magnitude of suicide deaths among Territorians. Information on the demographic, socio-economic and behavioural factors associated with suicide has been used to identify population groups most at risk. Report Mortality in the Northern Territory 1981-2000 - part 1: Key indicators & overviewThis report is the first volume in the Mortality in the Northern Territory 1981-2000 series, and provides an overview of information on Northern Territory (NT) deaths for the years 1981 to 2000. It provides detailed statistics for deaths from all causes, and for each of the major International Classification of Disease (ICD) chapters. Age-adjusted death rate, age-specific death rate and life expectancy are used to describe and compare health status within the Northern Territory population. Australian data is provided for comparison, where appropriate. The two subsequent volumes of this series provide disease specific causes of death including analysis of associated and underlying causes of death.1602 551 - Publication
