Abstract |
There's no avoiding the fact that you're physically isolated in Alice Springs. The town, with 26000 inhabitants, is at least 1200km from the nearest population centre of equal size in any direction. Inland Australia, which occupies 70% of the land mass, supports only 2% of the country's population. On the other hand, communications, flights and roads are all good, and there are plenty of visitors passing through.
