Abstract
During 2004 the Department of Health and Ageing published a Resource Kit: Providing culturally appropriate palliative care to Indigenous Australians. The Kit was developed to assist the provision of palliative care to Indigenous Australian patients, their families and communities.
It also aimed to assist palliative care providers examine their practice for cultural appropriateness. While the Kit has a national focus this Companion Guide focuses more closely on the needs of Northern Territory Aboriginal palliative care patients. It is designed to help practitioners and services consider the specific cultural needs of their patients in the Territory. It is not prescriptive; it is a guide. (From the Introduction)
