The clinical guidelines for the management of chronic diseases and antenatal care were developed for staff working in the NT Coordinated Care Trial (CCT) site communities of the West Katherine region and the Tiwi Islands. The first editions of these guidelines were printed in May 1998.
The Adult Chronic Disease Management Guidelines and the Remote Area, Well Men's and Well Women's Screening guidelines were developed from the original edition in November 1998. These are being distributed across the Top End of the Northern Territory.
These guidelines focus on the screening for and management of adult chronic diseases. Staff will continue to use the CARPA manual and the Antibiotic Guidelines for acute care management and topics not covered in these guidelines. The Top End Adult Standard Treatment Manual will be maintained as a reference.
