Abstract
Croker Island is the largest of the islands adjacent to the Coburg Peninsula on the north coast of the Northern Territory. The community is sited about mid-way along the eastern coast, on a coastal rise in Mission Bay. The population of approximately two hundred and fifty ( 250) is predominently aboriginal. The current town clerk is Mr Ronald Ilagilag and the council president is Mr Jumbo Gungginbara.
Two officers from the Medical Entomology Section visited the community from 18-20 February 1981 to conduct both an Aedes aegypti survey and to assess the likelihood of exposure of community members to vector mosquitoes.
Possible measures whereby this man/mosquito vector contact could be reduced were also considered.
