Abstract
During December 1983 a survey for Aedes aegypti and other vector mosquitoes was carried out by two officers of the Medical Entomology Branch on Bathurst and Melville Islands. Aedes aegypti is the recognised vector of
dengue fever in Australia. Whilst distribution of this mosquito in Australia is considered to be restricted to
Queensland, introduction to the Northern Territory is possible by the transport of containers with Aedes
aegypti eggs.
