This handbook was assembled by the staff of Royal Darwin Hospital Pathology Laboratory primarily for the use
of Resident Medical Officers of this hospital. We hope it will be of use to other doctors and nurses whether in
the hospital or in the community and to other hospitals and laboratories in the Territory. We would welcome
any suggestions for modifications or additions to the current edition. Each section has been compiled by the
staff of that section and represents the specific information relevant to that section.
The Pathology Department is registered by the National Association of Testing Authorities (NATA) acting in
collaboration with the Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia (RCPA).
