Abstract
The regular mosquito monitoring program for Alice Springs includes weekly mosquito trapping around Ilparpa Swamp and at Bloomfield Street on the north side of Heavitree Gap by the Alice Springs Council, with identification performed by the Medical Entomology Branch. Another component of this program is a regular larval sampling and control program around the stormwater drain endpoints throughout the Alice Springs town area.
The present report deals with a brief inspection of the Ilparpa Swamp area and a number of mosquito breeding sites within the town in response to continuing mosquito numbers at the Bloomfield site, and to determine the extent of mosquito breeding in the Ilparpa Swamp following marked reductions in the numbers of mosquitoes in the swamp this year.
