An investigation of mosquito problems in the Katherine area has been carried out previously and a report "Mosquito Investigations Katherine 13-14 September 1988" has been produced and circulated. Specific recommendations with regard to the Katherine Meatworks were made in the report. Recent cases of mosquito-borne disease in the Katherine area have prompted this Branch to inspect the potential mosquito breeding areas around Katherine to assess the progress on the previous recommendations, and to reaffirm the need for control and rectification. The current survey was carried out on 21-22 February by using adult mosquito traps and inspecting the potential mosquito breeding areas.
This report deals with the findings of the survey with regard to the Katherine meatworks and makes specific
recommendations for mosquito control.
