The provision of antenatal care in remote and isolated regions in the NT is a long established health program. Despite its long standing status, there is currently limited information documented about the quality and quantity of antenatal care provided and no formal system for monitoring service delivery. Antenatal care has also been identified as a 'best buy' by the NT Preventable Chronic Diseases Strategy for prevention of development of adult chronic diseases.
