Abstract
The following paper presents an indepth analysis of all NT Hospital inpatient separations for a five year period spanning 1993 through to 1997, covering a total of 168,500 separations. This analysis examines morbidity data extracted from the CareSys Hospital Information System for every patient separation during this period. Morbidity data has been used to measure patient complexity, enable categorisation into Major Diagnostic Categories (MDC's) and determine the relative impact on NT Hospital workload in terms of volume and
complexity. Please note - Folio page numbering skips page 45.
