Abstract
The former town site of Southport is at the junction of the Blackmore and Darwin Rivers which flow into the Middle Arm of the Darwin Harbour. The Southport town site was surveyed very early on in the development of the Northem Territory but was never developed as an urban area. It was subdivided into small lots that have now been developed as small rural residential lots. The DLH&LG is attempting to rationalise the development of the Southport area and has requested the Medical Entomology Branch to
identify any biting insect impacts that are likely in this area.
