Abstract |
TEACH-PD is a registry-based, pragmatic, international, cluster-randomised controlled trial, randomising peritoneal dialysis units to implement TEACH-PD training modules versus standard existing practices. In Australia and New Zealand, Peritoneal Dialysis related infections are the major cause of morbidity and peritoneal dialysis technique failure. The burden of these infections is both high and unacceptably variable between different centres, with much of the variation being driven by centre-related factors including patient training. An estimated 1,500 participants will be targeted recruited from approximately 42-44 peritoneal dialysis units in Australia and New Zealand. The study is being coordinated by the Australasian Kidney Trial Network.
