2016 Nursing And Midwifery Excellence Awards Recipient Profiles

A list of recipient profiles nominated for the 2018 Nursing and Midwifery Excellence awards.

To compare perinatal deaths between aborigines and non-aborigines, 198 consecutive perinatal deaths (96 aboriginal and 102 non aboriginal) amongst 9948 births (2340 aboriginal and 7598 non aboriginal) that took place in Royal Darwin Hospital between 1984 and 1989, were studied. The objective of the comparison was to identify the differences between the two groups and the deficits in order to achieve better preventability and reduction in perinatal deaths.

The Trevor Taylor Award is given for excellence in research on Territory related health care issues. The criteria for receiving this award is based on the originality of the topic, individual effort, and the impact of the study on the Territory. All RDH Registered Medical Officers and Registrars are entitled to submit a paper for consideration of the prize. The Royal Darwin Hospital Management Board sponsors the competition to the value of $1,500.
