Abstract
The Department of Defence has purchased Bradshaw Station near Timber Creek in the northwest of the Top End of the NT for large scale training for the 1st Brigade. The Department of Defence is preparing an Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) for the area. The EIS is to be prepared in the form of an Environmental Management Plan. Work on the construction of training support facilities could begin in late 1997. It was suggested that baseline biting insect monitoring is required in the Bradshaw Station area due to the limited information on the presence or abundance of medically important insects in this area.
