Abstract |
Toe town of Jabiro is within ten kilometres of very extensive freshwater wetlands associated with the South Alligator River to the south west and the Magela River to the north. In addition there are extensive salt and brackish marsh areas to the north west and the north of the town that are associated with the lower reaches of the South Alligator and the East Alligator rivers. These habitats are seasonal sources of very large numbers of various species of mosquitoes that are within flight range or dispersal distance to Jabiru.
