Abstract
An inspection of the Jabiru environs including the lake and the proposed dry season sewerage disposal area was carried out on the 15-16 April 1981 by the Medical Entomology Section. This followed a telephone request by Mr Ted Coldrake, the Environmental Advisor to Cameron, Macnamara, Minenco, to advise on the mosquito breeding potential of the Jabiru Lake. The Medical Entomology Section has previously advised that the building of such a lake would lead to the creation of mosquito breeding sites unless certain design features were incorporated into the lake. The lake has filled for the first time this wet season (1980/81). The sewage from Jabiru will be discharged during the wet season into the Magela Creek. During the dry season it will be dispersed in an area near the sewage ponds. This area was inspected during the late wet season to determine if there would be potential mosquito breeding problems associated with this dispersal. Other aspects of mosquito breeding and mosquito control were also briefly investigated. Page 3 is missing in the original document.
