Abstract: The TIWI people come from Bathurst and Melville Islands. Their language and their culture and their appearance are all different from Mainland Tribes. A long time ago they used to live in small groups on their own tribal lands. Nowadays some of the old people still live in the bush but most of the younger people live at the main places at Nguiu on Bathurst Island and at Milikapiti and Garden Point on Melville lsland.
