Abstract
The Northern Territory Department of Health is responsible for providing a full range of health services to the population of the Northern Territory. For administrative and operational purposes the Northern Territory is divided into 5 regions, each region is managed by a Regional Director. The major centre of each region has a hospital with community health centres in the urban and rural areas. At the present time the Northern Territory is experiencing a shortage of nurses at the Royal Darwin Hospital and Alice Springs Hospital. From time to time it may be necessary to rotate nursing staff to one of the smaller hospitals.
