Abstract
A preliminary environmental report has been prepared for a proposal to provide a wilderness resort in Gurig (Cobourg) National Park. In response to the Conservation Commission request for comments on the PER, a preliminary report was submitted in December, 1987 by the Department of Health and Community Services titled "Medical Entomology aspects of the Coral Bay Resort Proposal". This report outlined the need for more detailed information on topography and vegetation to enable a remote entomological assessment, or a detailed biting insect survey to better assess any potential pest or public health problems from vector mosquitoes or biting midges. This report outlines the results and conclusions of a brief biting insect survey of the proposed development site in January 1988.
