Abstract: This report details a study of biting midge and mosquito incidence in an area of land that is subject to a proposal for development into a canal estate. The area of land lies between Tiger Brennan Drive and Sadgroves Creek on the fore-shore of Frances Bay, Darwin. The general aim of the study was to estimate the likely impact of biting insects, especially biting midges, on the proposed development. The study investigated the incidence and distribution of different biting insect species and inferred their dispersal characteristics.
