Abstract: The Northern Territory Health and Wellbeing Survey was conducted in December 2000 by the Department of Health and Community Services. It is the first large-scale population health survey in the Northern Territory to provide statistically robust information on the residents of metropolitan, rural and remote regions. Information on a range of health related topics was collected by telephone from 2,498 residents aged 18 years and over from metropolitan, rural and remote areas. The information provided by the respondents will assist the Department in developing and refining policies and programs aimed at improving the health of the population.
