Abstract
Nursing recruitment and retention is an ever continuing issue in the Northern Territory and smaller regional hospitals like Katherine need to be competitive in attracting and retaining staff. Nurses with specific skills and / or experience, along with new graduate nurses are required to maintain a quality health service delivery. Turnover affects efficiency because recruitment and selection is costly and time is spent training and developing the employee. The purpose of this report is to present strategies for improvement on how Katherine Hospital can attract and retain nursing staff, so that the management of Katherine Hospital (KH) can provide a competitive nursing employment environment.
