Bacteremia Antibiotic Length Actually Needed for Clinical Effectiveness (BALANCE): Randomized Controlled Trial

Abstract
Current global practive for bloodstream infection is to give antibiotics for variable duration between 7, 10 and 14 days. There is evidence that 14 days is excessive, but only amount a restricted list of diagnoses. We will randomise participants without a clear indication for longer courses of antibiotics to either 7 or 14 days of antibiotics, to determine the effect on survival at 90 days.
