Abstract: Ovitraps are special egg traps used to detect the presence or importation of dengue and yellow fever vector mosquitoes such as Aedes aegypti and Aedes albopictus. Aedes aegypti is absent from all States in Australia except Queensland (Sinclair 1992), while Ae. albopictus is not present but poses a real threat (Kay et al. 1990, Whelan 1981, Whelan 1991).
