Mortality in the Northern Territory 1979-1997

Abstract

This report provides summary statitics on Northern Territory (NT) mortality for the years 1979 to 1997 for all causes of death combined, and statistics on individual causes of death for the years 1979 to 1995. Indicators such as life expectancy, age-adjusted death rates and age-specific death rates are used to describe and compare the health status of the NT Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal population. Mortality statistics for the overall Australian population are included for comparison where appropriate.
